Community through dining
My Pilon Lakay dinner series is rooted in the belief that food is a pathway to community.
In Haitian culture, the sound of the “pilon” (pestle and mortar in Haitian Creole) is a call to gather: a familiar rhythm signaling that something is being prepared to be shared on the table. My intimate dinner experiences carry that same spirit of konbit*, bringing people together around a table where food, culture, and storytelling intertwine.
Each course becomes a story of migration, memory, and belonging, accompanied by little surprises that become keepsakes and memories that guests get to take home. The warmth of my home (Haiti) meets the elegance of fine dining, creating a space where strangers become family where conversation flows, and curiosity is nourished.
*Konbit is a traditional Haitian Creole term for cooperative communal labor and mutual aid. It describes a system where community members come together to work collectively on heavy tasks such as farming, harvesting or building homes. Tasks that are too difficult to complete alone.

At my table, connection begins the moment you walk in. Each dinner is designed to bring people together through the stories behind each dish, the art that surrounds us, and the conversations that unfold naturally between bites. Expect your cultures to meet, hearts to open, and that’s where community begins.

Sharing is at the heart of the table. It flows naturally. We share food, stories, and laughter but more than that, we share pieces of ourselves. From the flavors passed down through generational stories that rise with each course, this is a space to exchange energy, wisdom, and history.

Growth happens when we allow ourselves to experience something new. The shared space invites reflection on where we come from, who we are becoming, and how culture and memory shape us. Through connection and shared discovery, we leave fuller not just in body, but in spirit.
