Trogon | Block Print on Paper

$50.00

Hand-carved block print, Speedball ink on paper | 5”x7”

A tribute to the Hispaniolan Trogon, the national bird of Haiti, rendered in bold black and white through the art of block printing. Every line in this piece was hand-carved by me into the printing block, then inked and pressed by hand (a slower, more deliberate process that mirrors the patience storytelling itself requires.)
This print was created in tandem with the release of my children's book, Trogon's Song of Hope, which introduces young readers to this beautiful and lesser-known bird as a symbol of resilience and hope. Here, the Trogon is stripped down to its essential form. This method to me was a study in contrast, texture, and quiet strength.
The creation of this piece is a dedication to anyone who carries a love for Haiti, for storytelling, or for the small creatures that remind us what endurance looks like.
